This policy describes what the app stores and what it sends over the network. It does not invent accounts, ads, or analytics: this build has none of those.
The app does not create a user account, sign you in, or run a cloud library of its own. Your shelf lives in the app’s private storage on the phone.
When you add or edit a book, the app stores on the device: title, author, ISBN, publication date, pages, series, volume, format, genre, status, whether you own a copy, rating, start and finish dates, cover (a catalogue URL or a photo you take), and reading sessions (start and end times).
Settings (shelf layout, lookup sources, reading-notification switches, optional reading goals) are stored locally. Cover photos you take are files under the app’s private covers/ directory. They are not uploaded by the app.
The app uses the Internet only when you look up a book, when it loads a cover from a URL already on the shelf, and for Google Play in-app updates and in-app review.
Lookup (ISBN, or a title/author search) may send that query to catalogues you have enabled in Settings:

Their own privacy policies apply to what they keep. Lookup is off for a source if you disable it in Settings. You can add a book by hand without any lookup.
Google Play In-App Updates may check whether a newer store version exists. Google Play In-App Review may run after you mark a book as read (with a cooldown). Opening “Rate on Google Play” in Settings opens the public Play Store listing.
Lookups use HTTPS.
Camera permission is used to scan an ISBN barcode and, if you choose, to photograph a cover. Frames are processed on the device; the app does not send camera video to a server.
Notification permission is used for the reading session (play / pause / elapsed time, optional lock-screen player) and, if you turn goals on, for evening reminders about the monthly/yearly plan or idle reading. You can turn the reading notification off in Settings.
While a reading session is open and the reading notification is enabled, the app runs a foreground service of type media playback so the timer can stay in the notification shade and, optionally, on the lock screen. That service does not stream audiobook audio; it shows the book you are timing.
Vibration, if enabled, is a short haptic when a barcode is read.
From Settings you can export, share, or restore a ZIP of the library (JSON, local cover files, a CSV spreadsheet, and preferences). The file goes where you pick (phone storage, another app via the share sheet). The app does not upload that ZIP to an Ergonomic server.
Android Auto Backup and device-to-device transfer are enabled. The system may copy the local database, covers/, and settings to the Google account tied to the phone, or to a new phone you set up. That is OS backup, not an app-operated cloud.
If you share text or use “process text” from another app, the app may read an ISBN from that text. It is stored only if you save a book.
The app is a general-audience book tracker. It is not directed at children.
Delete a book in the app to remove that record and, for a local cover, the photo file when the app cleans unused covers. Uninstalling the app removes its private storage on that device. A ZIP or CSV you saved elsewhere stays where you put it until you delete it. OS backups follow your Google/Android backup settings.
